{"id":20047,"date":"2018-03-22T09:14:03","date_gmt":"2018-03-22T08:14:03","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.bakiaconsulting.com\/publications-bakia\/how-can-innovative-technological-solutions-help-financial-departments-in-the-fight-against-fraud"},"modified":"2025-05-28T14:08:57","modified_gmt":"2025-05-28T12:08:57","slug":"how-can-innovative-technological-solutions-help-financial-departments-in-the-fight-against-fraud","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.bakiaconsulting.com\/en\/publications-bakia\/how-can-innovative-technological-solutions-help-financial-departments-in-the-fight-against-fraud\/","title":{"rendered":"How can innovative technological solutions help financial departments in the fight against fraud?"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>At a time when almost <strong>80% of companies claim to have suffered at least one fraud attempt<\/strong>, and when this growing phenomenon affects all entities, whatever their sector of activity, location or sales, the use of <strong>innovative technological solutions is a valuable aid for CFOs<\/strong> (administrative and financial departments).<\/p>\n\n<div style=\"height:70px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Innovative technologies to support internal anti-fraud measures<\/h2>\n\n<p><strong>Fraud affects all companies<\/strong>, including those specialising in security or in sensitive sectors, and no one is immune.<\/p>\n\n<p>All the players have therefore gradually mobilised to raise awareness among the entities under threat: the State, through specialised sites made available to companies, and the banks, by strengthening their vigilance and their warning systems for these same players.<\/p>\n\n<p>But it is internally that the anti-fraud measures have been improved the most, in particular through awareness-raising actions and even <strong>increased training for all staff<\/strong> who are directly or indirectly concerned by these risks.<\/p>\n\n<p>In parallel with these actions, the implementation of <strong>technological solutions<\/strong> capable of <strong>supporting the financial departments has become increasingly urgent<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n<p>Thus, the use of scalable devices capable of adapting quickly to the various anti-fraud issues, starting with the <strong>management of <em>Big Data<\/em>[1], is now essential<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n<div style=\"height:70px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">\u00ab <em>Machine learning<\/em> \u00bb to the rescue of risk analysis<\/h2>\n\n<p>In addition to tools adapted to the processing of massive data, <strong><em>Machine Learning<\/em><\/strong> has been <strong>added to the solutions<\/strong> that enable us to <strong>move from data processing (input) to its analysis and even to recommendations<\/strong> (output) based on the development of evolving algorithms.<\/p>\n\n<p>In the context of the <strong>fight against fraud<\/strong>, these predictive capabilities make it possible to exploit the financial behaviour of the company&#8217;s partners, particularly in terms of the frequency of payment to a supplier, the number of users for a specific type of payment or the frequency of use of the same IBAN[2] (bank details).<\/p>\n\n<p>In addition to their potential for detecting fraud, these technologies also allow <strong>financial departments to refine their risk management<\/strong>, for example by assigning a score per IBAN according to various criteria specific to the company itself.<\/p>\n\n<p>In addition to strengthening security, these tools also create new opportunities and even open up fields of action that would not have been possible with traditional IT tools.<\/p>\n\n<div style=\"height:70px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">The enhanced expertise of a combination of human and multi-channel technology<\/h2>\n\n<p>However, this anti-fraud campaign cannot remain effective without, in addition to the mobilisation of all the players, the intervention of experts who have mastered both risk management and the technological tools used.<\/p>\n\n<p>When a new customer or service provider is registered, for example, or when a new IBAN appears for an old service provider, it is indeed essential to continue to carry out a &#8220;manual&#8221;
